I wrote this over five hours yesterday, because that's all the time I had for it, researching as I went. Somewhere in the world there's this great storehouse of time. The writers of all those brilliant, perfectly-pulled-together jewels of historiographic insight have the keys. All I have is a Wednesday off work to wrestle with my ideas.
